  1. And don’t forget the buyback scheme to get those banned weapons out of circulation, instead of just driving them underground. That’s a key factor in why the Australian gun-law reform succeeded. And here in NZ, we are following the same example, and hopefully that will lead to the same results. Of course, this absolutely terrifies the gun nuts. The last thing they want is objective evidence that gun control works. And so you see ongoing pressure in Australia to reverse those gun-law reforms.

  3. Remember that teacher who was shot by a six-year-old? What was she supposed to do--shoot back? The idea that schools should be run like high-security military installations is just ... crazy.
