  2. Interestingly, it didn’t seem to rate a mention on Al Jazeera English, which we get on Freeview in NZ. They did note the death of SF/fantasy writer Ursula K Le Guin (several of whose books I have read), but the debut of a new spacefaring nation didn’t seem newsworthy enough. The only time they’ve mentioned NZ recently was when it rained heavily enough to cause flooding.

  5. I think the name is a homage to Rutherford (for whom the engine is named). Interestingly, both NZ-born Nobel Prize winners went to the same primary school.
