If they're not Styx who is explicitly addicted to political shenanigans and analysis then it shouldn't be much of a surprise if he wants nothing to do with it now. I don't think it has anything to do with politics I think he's just going for the "Early retirement" and looking for the easy road to travel, unfortunately for the rich and famous that involves capitulating to evil people.
