most games work flawlessly in Linux, people these days though say that gaming isn't decent because it's unable to play a handful of popular competitive shooters due to a lack of anti-cheat software support. Also the Dos & Don'ts of Gaming on Linux aren't exactly the most fleshed out, it hasn't helped that linux has been largely used by geeky developers that find gaming boring lol. The reality is, with linux systems you have to be very deliberate in your decision making and commit to the extremes, either you have have a very pretty desktop and play games only "okay" or you can have none of that, run a tiling window manager with no compositor and run games really really well. Another thing to consider is AMD is better for gaming but lacks the encoders NVIDIA has for production so you also have to commit to your hardware. In general though, Linux needs a much harder push in handling media, some of its software is lacking in that department and I feel that this is the primary category that will get a flood of users to switch over to linux (Just look at what happened with just Proton alone lol). It must be true because michaelsoft really doesn't want to let those users go lol.

moving away from arch to a pre-config distro is usually a downgrade every time lol I go with server isos almost exclusively now
