I was a white kid that was all gung-ho about "Social Justice" in high school back in like 2006-2008 until i started to realize that the entire basis behind "social justice" and the democrat party is to tell minorities that they're not good enough to achieve what these god-like white people can achieve so they need extra help, once I realized that I said to myself "well no shit minorities especially black people have it so bad in their communities.. they were being told for over 50 years they can't do anything right.." For me it was all tied up into what they call "the soft bigotry of low expectations" the basis of all their politics is to tell everyone that votes for them they're not good enough and that they'll take care of you, no matter what background you have that's their go-to tactic every single time. I mean later on i became a bit more refined, started to realize it has nothing to do with democrats vs republicans, it's Baby Boomers vs everybody else but that's a different story.

My father told me exactly that, the dude wasn't good for a whole lot of things but he taught me how to respect firearms, and he taught me "Nobody owes you a DAMN thing and when you're not under my roof, nobody is going to take care of you out of the goodness of their own heart, there is no such thing as a free meal" and that stuck with me my entire life.

To be fair Skurgel that is not at all why that war was fought, it's way more complicated than that and you would probably find yourself agreeing with a surprising number of points from the confederate side. The south was fighting for state sovereignty, taxes, and individual rights, ironic right? By the time that war started the south had very little representation and Lincoln ran plenty of families into poverty by violently taxing the living crap out of poor families. Besides out of the entire south only 1-2% of them even had slaves so what the hell were the other 98%-99% fighting for? So billy can keep his slaves? lol Nah there's a reason to this day many people in the south justifiably see Abraham Lincoln as a tyrant, which explains why confederates hated the union so much, here's a constitution that affords them the right to fight against tyranny and despite all that the Union "Pardoned" them which was a serious slap to the face. The Emancipation Proclamation itself had absolutely nothing to do with the war in any way, you know.. just another Democrat lie.
