Not having a license doesn't stop drunk drivers from driving. Many years ago I was hit by a drunk driver. My car was destroyed and I was lucky to make it out alive. The driver's drivers license was revoked for a previous DUI, so they just drove without a license. :/

Is the definition of theft is where someone or a machine gives you the wrong amount of change and you keep it? If you go to an ATM, and you typed in you wanted $20 and the ATM spat out $40 due to bills sticking to one another (this has happened), and you keep the bonus, are you off to prison? Even if Walmart decides to press charges (a stretch for such a small amount per person), how are they going to defend their position when the lawyers for the defendants tell the court that they were GIVEN the money by the cash register machine, and didn't steal it? Before automated machines this was all done by cashiers. People are human. Cashiers often give out the wrong amount of change. Is every customer who kept an extra few bucks in a transaction off to Rikers Island?

If you live in Florida in a high-rise, you got to be aware of how the environment corrodes vital parts of the building. Condo owners throughout the state won't be happy with special assessments, like the $100,000 assessments that were supposed to happen in Surfside, to refurbish their buildings. Condos might be nice in trendy areas, but there's a price to pay.

There's no question of fault. What reason could the insurance company give for not paying?

I've heard several of these stories. Carvana would have left the guy holding the bag, and totally screwed, if it wasn't broadcasted on the news. Carvana gets no points for "making things right," because they weren't going to make things right from the start.

Is that standard operating procedure for parasail boat operators? If it's windy, the captain needs to deal with that, and not sacrifice people's lives.

Florida is sinking. Head for the hills!

I'm not the sheriff, but I don't think her Big Mac Attack is anywhere near a felony. The Hamburglar has done worse, and he's still out.

There's a property insurance crisis in Florida, regardless of solar panels. Prices are soaring when you can get a policy. Gov. DeSantis doesn't want to be bothered, since he's too busy fighting with Mickey Mouse.

If it's happening along the same road for years, it's not rocket science to mount some cameras on light poles to video the area. They'll suddenly have many images of the culprits, along with license plate numbers. If they want sharp pictures, use high-quality cameras. Do I need to train the police on how to investigate?

That's because there was never a billion in the account, regardless of the figures the ATM printed on the receipt.

You got to be kidding. If winds were 100 mph, CNN would be on storm watch covering the hurricane and the boat harbor being torn apart. Nobody would parasailing that day.

And Hurricane Milton is coming in a couple days, which could be worse. I'm not familiar with the area but a quick Google Maps search shows it as a barrier island. Just face it. You should not build in these areas anymore. If a storm surge hasn't swallowed one up, eventually it will. What insurance company left will even want to insure these areas?

She didn't have a billion. The top line is "available balance," the line below is "present balance." It makes no sense her available balance is higher than her present balance. What the ATM printed means nothing. I bet if she went to check her balance online, it would only show the $10,000, but maybe not even that. If her balance was really a billion, why wouldn't the ATM even give her $20? This isn't a news story, but someone looking to get their five minutes of fame.

DeSantisland. You elected the guy and he doesn't care. He's more concerned with bugging Mickey Mouse and running around the country yelling "woke, woke, woke!"

@iunnox666 Too late. Cameras are everywhere, except this street.

@noneofyourbusiness302 Thanks.

@barbrn Both.

It wasn't quietly done. It was done publicly, plus I doubt the governor/Florida have power to invalidate agreements under previous law (there can be ex post facto law). Anyway, good for Disney. DeSantis is just a street bully. If he disagrees with you on anything, then he just tries to screw you.

He must have been thirsty. Jokes aside, drunk driving is serious. Ten years ago I was hit by a drunk driver. He totally demolished my car, and I ended up in the hospital. The guy was so drunk he didn't know he even hit me. He kept on going down the road until his smashed up car stopped running.

@shawnnewell4541 Probably not: One thing I know is, in my instance, he bought a used truck from a private party, shortly before hitting me. If someone wants to sell someone else a car, what's to stop them from selling it to anybody who comes by?
