One thing missing in your study was putting wallets out in the wild with large amounts of money. My feeling is people are more honest if there is nothing, or little, to gain by keeping the wallet. All your wallets had less than $10 in them. If you dropped wallets with $50,000 in them, I wonder if the percent returned would be significantly less. Of course if you do a second study of 200 wallets with $50,000 each, you'll need $10 million to start with. I hope you win the lottery. :)
