I'm skeptical those incidents are related. If so, the guy is a serial murderer. That would make the O.J. case look like child's play.

I don't like everything about the airlines, but American Airlines is 100% correct, although I don't feel they had to pay for a night in a hotel for them. Anybody flying should have the common decency to bathe and wear clean clothes before heading to the airport. Passengers are crammed in like sardines, and don't want to be tortured by stinky passengers. Imagine if this was an overseas flight of over 10 hours. Passengers would suffer with really no way to get farther from them, as usually almost every seat is taken. Not healthy at all. Totally unacceptable. I've had experience with stinky passengers on subways and buses. At least then I can get off and take the next train.

Happened to me and I used a permanent ink marker. They added an extra digit to the left, making a $50 check a $850 check. Wells Fargo refunded my money but made me get a new checking account. Since a lot of these altered checks are mobile deposited, making the check as alter proof as possible may not work when the bank is just looking at a photo.

How true. Today, LAPD S.W.A.T. would need to be called if passengers found out the airline was out of pretzels. It was nice of the staff to stick around to finish their shifts. Today, the check-in counter would be empty, as without proper riot gear, staff would be in danger. Unfortunately, Pan Am was losing money for years and years. It just was never known when the last day would be until it happened.

I walk around with a $20 Casio digital watch on my wrist. So far nobody has tried to tear off my arm for that.

I wonder if anyone organized a bus trip for people who want Santos stay, how many would be on it. Probably just one, and that's if Santos showed up for the ride.

Talk about digging your own grave. :/

The reporter said work with a licensed real estate broker, but right on the broker's door it says he's licensed. I did a quick online search of licensed New York brokers, and he's listed. So having a licensed doesn't protect you here. I wouldn't buy a washing machine without looking at it first. I don't care what the broker says, I would want to look at every part of the house. The couple was lucky to get their money back.

How do you accidentally fall down a trash chute?

"High speed rail" in the USA.

Me 2. I remember New York City in the 1980's. Those old trains had no A/C, but we could open the windows near the ceiling. They were noisy, full of graffiti and the lights flickered inside while the trains were moving. People survived.

I would like to see hard, written, statistics from their power bills on that. LEDs, use about 80% - 90% less electricity than the old incandescent bulbs, and since many of them are off longer than they are on while blinking, I guess it's possible. Obviously there are costs with all the bulbs, extension cords, Bluetooth/WiFi/audio stuff that needs to be bought or replaced each year. Anyway, there are bigger shows in a lot of parks, but you usually have to pay to see them. I'll be going to one soon myself.

Common Sense lacks common sense. YouTube is full of trolls.

The district elected a conman. Isn't a Congressman supposed to serve his constituents? He doesn't seem to want to serve anybody. It's all about himself. If this was any other job and you did only 1% of what Santos did, you'll be shown the door. Unfortunately when it comes to Congress, you end up with this.

I wonder about the organ waiting list. Waiting for a single organ is difficult. Waiting for multiple organs seems really difficult. If someone with a right match tragically dies in an automobile accident, will all the organs still work and be transplantable?
4
It's total nonsense, along with everything else that comes out of his mouth. Using stolen checks for puppies. Hasn't Santos used stolen checks? Maybe he stole the checks from himself. How similar is the writing on those checks to his own? I bet similar enough. Did the breeder ask for ID? He should have. Writing his drivers license on the back of the checks, then Santos would have to claim his drivers license was stolen too, with the "thief" just happening to look like him.

Tragic. In London, there are some old metro platforms where the tracks are curving in one direction or another. This leaves large gaps, because obviously the trains themselves are straight. Everyone needs to "Mind the Gap" when boarding or exiting trains.
4
I wouldn't know the difference between a $10 Walmart handbag and a $3,000 handbag. Anyway, maybe the shop owner should start thinking it just may not be a good idea to put the expensive stuff right on the shelves where someone can grab and run with it.
4
@postmodernrecycler In my case the wording was erased and changed (the written out amount and the payee), it's was just they added an "8" to the front of the numbers I wrote. It didn't look like a good job from the image, but the bank still accepted it. I don't think people even look at the check images. It's just machines/computers that process these things.
4
They do it in L.A. (subway, light rail, busway, etc.), even though fares are cheaper than dirt. Maybe some sort of Star Wars type of "instant vaporization" of fare evaders will do the trick.
3
@sl4983 If it was a gas leak, the gas should still be leaking regardless of whether a door was open or not. Since they didn't detect gas leaking from somewhere, there probably wasn't a leak.

In the end, MCI went the way of the dinosaur.
3
So he's going to hide from his constituents for the next two years while also wanting to keep the job. What a farce.
2
I don't know. When other malls are struggling or closing, this mega-mall is opening. People will initially come to see and experience it, but after that, will they keep coming back?
2
I own the Empire State Building. What do you own?
2
Why blur out the license plate number of the culprit? I understand if they're the victim, but who is the TV station protecting? This scam has been around for decades. I wonder if there is an attorney office involved in this too. It's happened before as a way to drum up business.
2
It would take 10 seconds to determine it's not her phone. Non matching passwords, apps, phone number, etc.
2
@mwpierre You don't happen to know The Juice?
2
I was searching McDonald's videos and this came up as a match. Not a Big Mac Attack, but close. :/
2
What "constituents" is Santos meeting with, when he says that? I doubt it's anyone. He's not representing anybody but himself. The district is stuck with a congressman who is useless until he's run out of office.
2
I think, once you're a member of congress, you collect your $174K salary until the day you leave or get kicked out, no matter if you're doing nothing. It's not like any other job.
2
He said dozens of people have recently thanked him for rescuing their pets. Can't some of them come forward? I would if someone was kind enough to help me with a pet in need. Where are they? Seeing pictures and texts with no indication who sent them doesn't prove anything. Anyone can send text and pictures to themselves anytime.
2
With the head and appendages missing, my guess is there is only DNA to help identify. My guess is, if all else fails, match what you get with companies like 23andMe. Follow the leads from that to close relatives.
2
How can anyone live with 150 cats?
2
@ELLABandz4o4 That's what happened to me. It was a mobile deposit of a check I wrote that was fished out of mailbox.
2
How can they be sure it's a man? Not enough detail. I think even if their income is achieved this way, it's supposed to be reported on their tax return.
2
At this point, it's only news if someone doesn't find a skimmer. Scams are everywhere. As for the magnetic strip on back of your bank cards, its days are numbered. I've read by the end of the decade it will no longer be a part of the card. Only the chip and contactless will be on cards. While fraud won't go down to zero, cheap and old-fashion skimmers will no longer do the trick.
2
This happens a lot. The banks try to blame the customers for all sorts of fraud and leave them holding the bag. The customers then end up contacting their local TV station. The banks then refund the money because of the bad publicity. Unfortunately the local news shows don't have time for everyone's, or the whole one hour broadcast would be nothing but this stuff.
1
I wouldn't hand my phone over to anybody I don't know, and maybe I do know. I would be more worried about them running out the door with it.
1
The magnetic strip days are number. Eventually you'll be getting credit/debit cards with only a chip and NFC, removing the easy way to skim data.

You got a thug in the neighborhood. If he did get inside, I would hope her neighbors would have called the cops when they heard the commotion.
1
@alhoo22 She killed them? I guess anything is possible, but I doubt it.
1
How did the TV reporters get to work?
1
@anneahlert2997 The gas company where I live offers a level pay plan. They bill you monthly for your average bill and collect any overage at the end of the year. Maybe December is when they're over, if their electric company does the same.

@jamesmccarthy1704 If you had to use the pedals all the time, like on a bicycle, peddling a 400 pound load of packages, you would want a real truck. :)
1
The problem is, a petition doesn't remove him if he still doesn't want to go. Even if he said if 142,000 ask for him to leave, do you trust this guy to keep his promise?
1
Did he file a police report about his "mugging" in broad daylight, a block from Trump Tower? I doubt it, since filing a false police report is a crime, but saying nonsense is not. Walking shoeless after they were taken right off his feet, down 5th Avenue, sure must have been inconvenient and not safe. What about a police report and an FBI briefing on his attempted "assassination." Obviously top law enforcement must be on the case unless, um, it didn't happen.
1
@ELLABandz4o4 There was enough money in my account for the forged checked to clear. I noticed when I logged on to my account that the balance looked low. That's when I discovered the crime.
