They are not going to retreat from the west bank of Kherson for 1 simple military reason: Ukraine will rain shells on the eastern part of the city from the opposite side of the river when it will come close and the civilians will not be able to live there. Russia would have to evacuate all of Kherson and fight with the enemy that occupied newly build Russian tranches and fortifications. That is to stupid thing to do.
