I studied music,painting,poetry and literature in Japan. This led to more acceptance by people who knew me. Homogeneity is almost unknown in the U.S. or Northern Europe. Only among Native Americans on the res,or Romany Gipsys. This should not be confused as racism. This exclusion is exists to ALL non Japanese,regardless of race,color or ethnicity. Of smell,this applies to south east Asia in general. Its best to eat foods of the country to be visited for a couple of weeks before travel and to use ethnic soaps, perfumes, deodorants on arrival.
