@Lee_van _pool. They were always delusional and hypergamous. That's why marriages were arranged,or fathers vetted suitors. There were exceptions of course. Mainly in the courts of China,Thailand, Korea and Japan, where women held government posts,were authors,warriors and poets. I'm sure some swung the gate the other way too and remained unmarried.
