6:00 I think the ambassador explained the cost of education a bit poorly. The expenses and loans he was talking about was living costs, not the cost for the education. During my university studies here in Finland, I bought pencils and papers and a couple of books. The costs for using photocopiers was nearly the greatest expense for the actual studies. Many people still end up getting student loan to pay their living expenses – for example they may get student loans to be able to live in studio apartment instead of sharing a flat with other students – and the higher standards of living in general you have, the more you'll spend. Oh, and there was mandatory payment for the student membership which was maybe $150 a year and that granted free usage to FSHS (Finnish Student Health Service, but Finnish students know it by its Finnish abbreviation YTHS) medical services and dental care, so all your basic medical needs were covered with that single yearly cost. The only practical cost over that yearly payment for using FSHS services as a student is, if you reserve an appointment and never show up, you'll be billed a nominal charge for the missed appointment. Cancelling an appointment is free up to 24 hours before the appointment.
