  1. I somewhat understand doing this if you're not sure how the song's melody should go by the time you're playing it. Basically you record first and come up with the song later which is exactly like using the "live" studio playing as sound sample bank. You could also use computers to run some kind of algorithm that moves the samples around so that the feel comes back after you've re-arranged the whole song. Obviously, the kind of musicians that use this kind of technology could never play the end result for real.
