  1. I think knowing a language vs being a master with it are two totally different things. If knowing a language were enough, anybody of us could write best selling books instead of writing software if we wanted.

  2. I've figured out a pretty solid test to see if somebody knows Javascript: "What function hoisting and closure mean in JavaScript?" I've yet to find a good JavaScript developer that couldn't easily answer that. And I've found many JavaScript developers writing mediocre code and being unable to answer that. The just don't understand even the basic parts of the language correctly!

  3.  @my_online_logs  How can the developer understand how the framework works if they don't understand the basics of the language they are supposed to use?

  4.  @my_online_logs  If you try to actually ask these kind of questions from juniors, they cannot even tell you the things you explained. And yet they are writing code that tries to use the framework!

  5. I would argue Haskell is much much harder language to master than C, C++ or Rust.
