Inside cathode ray tube should be just vacuum so there's very little any chemical or powder there. The smell probably comes from electrolytic capacitors that used to have all kinds of weird chemistry back in the day.

8:45 You know... the sawstop works by completing a circuit. When your hand is not connected to anything and it levitates in the air with rapidly decreasing height, it will not complete circuit and the only way the blade would stop is if enough content from your (detached!) hand smears around the table to complete the circuit.

@teslatrooper I think lead was used in the front glass of the CRT monitor (and in the leaded solder). I think cadmium wasn't used in the phosphor since around 1965 but if you have old enough CRT monitor, sure. Barium was used as a replacement for lead glass in some CRT monitors.

@Jaizizzizi Could you elaborate a bit? I'm happy to be educated about any mistakes I've made but simply claiming that something is incorrect without explaining what and why, your input to this discussion has zero value.
