  1. That Golf mk1 did really well indeed! Those old cars had very good feedback from tires to steering wheel. I remember driving a Passat from similar era and when it was about to lose traction, you could always tell which tire was about to slide! More modern cars can go faster around the corners thanks to better suspension but the feedback is much worse. It was quite surprising that the limiting factor was engine cooling instead of brakes or suspension!

  2. Great driving! I wouldn't have been so brave with an old Golf mk1 because there's no rollcage and if any old suspension part fails, hitting the wall with that car has safety measures of a tin can. It seems that as long as the suspension stays attached to the car it should do just fine even for such fast driving!
