  1. When I did my drivers license here in Finland, I too had fuel economy training as part of the license training. I got my driver's license in 1996 so this is not a recent thing. I'm still following some the of the guidance I got at that time such as switching from 1st gear to 2nd gear immediately the car is moving and thinking already about next intersection before accelerating from previous intersection to optimize the fuel usage. The only thing that was poorly explained was that you want to use different engine braking strategies for ECU controller injection (both gasoline or diesel) vs traditional diesel vs carburetor.

  2. 5:00 US is built to require cars because it allowed car manufacturers to sell more cars. You just need to improve city design and suddenly you don't so many cars anymore!
