@Battlenude US has weird legislation where the total length of truck + trailer is ignored and only the length of the trailer matters. As a result, nobody minds the length of the truck. Here in Europe, the total length is limited but you can distribute it as you wish. As a result, cabs get shorter and shorter but pretty high to maximize the available length for the cargo. In addition, US has really low total mass limits compared to Europe. As a result, you can use old school engine tech because any engine will do.

@hnorrstrom Check out some psychrometric charts and you'll see that even 100% RH "moist air" around 0 °C will dry to 25% RH when heated to around 20 °C you typically have indoors during the Winter. This is because cool air saturates much more easy with the same amount of water molecules in the air. And outdoor air cannot be more humid than 100% RH because water would simply condensate instead of getting more humid. And most people could consider 25% RH pretty dry indeed.

@sic22l I'm pretty sure only certain parts would need DOT certified, basically brakes and lights. And considering how strict the requirements are in Europe nowadays, DOT certification is basically just some paperwork.

@sic22l I was thinking that Euro 6 specs were already stricter than the ones used in the US but I have never checked that.

@hnorrstrom Indeed. And you have to remember that your throat and lungs are trying to keep the air moist at body temperature, which is getting really hard when temperature drops a lot and you're outdoors.
