  6. As I see it, once he said he wants a lawyer, the detectives stopped making any questions. They did continue to explain how things are going to go and the detectives discussed with each other about how they would behave in identical situation. If the criminal wants to spill the beans even without being asked anything, that's their free option. When you ask for a lawyer, it just means that the cannot ask you questions about the case but they don't need to stay silent either. And when you ask for a lawyer, it would be a really good idea to stay silent yourself until you get to discuss with your lawyer.
