Honestly, Samsung TVs make quite a good monitors when you disable the CE dimming via the factory menu and just use HDMI2 named as "PC" to disable all "image improvements" (Samsung has weird idea that menus do not allow disabling latency-inducing features but there's a hidden feature that HDMI2 input called as "PC" disables all extra processing and you get much lower latency and see the actual signal sent to the TV as any well behaving monitor should work). Of course, that requires that you have an AV (pre)amplifier with all the HDMI inputs you want, but you would want that in any case if you value high quality audio. I agree that the "smart tv" features are not that great. On the plus side, Samsung monitors boot to last used input really fast so you never need to access the TV menus after setting it up as long as you only ever use the HDMI2 input for the reasons explained above. You can always get something like latest gen Chromecast to replace the "smart" integrated into the TV.
