  1. I guess Autodesk is arguing that the license is for lifetime of the copy of the software or lifetime of the computer. If you cannot run the software to transfer the license, it's already dead and lifetime warranty has expired. It makes sense to their lawyers but is highly probably bad for reputation. And if Autodesk actually believes their year 2013 software was so good that paying for the more recent upgrades are not worth it so they need to extract money from the new licenses for the old copy, they should stop and figure what to do for the next 10 years to provide value to their customers. I think they should make the year 2013 software free for all and maybe show a nagware screen during startup telling that "This software is deprecated but can still be used for free, but no support of any kind is available anymore."
