  1. 5:40 The reason that Pixel phones have the best support for alternate operating systems is that Google is the only manufacturer that actually follows GPL and publishes the corresponding source for the kernel they use.

  2. I was actually able to contact Google user support when they incorrectly disabled the user account of a child. It "only" took 1 month worth of email and explaining the issue to about 10 different Google support people in two languages (Pro tip: do not bother using whatever local UI language you see, always use English only). After a lot of email the case was finally transferred to somebody that had some clue about their systems and it only took a day after that. I write software for living and it would have took me less than 5 minutes to fix similar issue in the system I'm maintaining as part of my work.
