  1. OEM batteries typically have about 75% profit margin. And that's without DRM setup to force you to purchase their overpriced offerings.

  2. I think they should have a temperature sensor in the body and turn off the system if the sensor in the battery doesn't measure close enough to the one inside the camera body. This would help both with OEM battery failing in use and with 3rd party batteries. But in the end, I have zero trust that this issue is about security or safety but maximizing profits.
