@r3beatty I fully agree. I feel like in representative government every vote for a bill should start with a multiple choice questionnaire and if you don't get at least 60% correct, you cannot vote at all (or you automatically vote "I don't know" or "I didn't understand the question" or absent if that makes you happier). You MUST demonstrate understanding of the subject matter before you can decide about it.

@menotu000 Absolutely. And the legislation could define that the tools needed to execute repairs (e.g. replace battery) must be made available to 3rd parties. If such a tool is implemented as software, then you must make the software available.

You're doing great work, Louis, and I agree with the message of this video! The only thing anybody could say about your videos is that you didn't specifically recommend that if you contact these politicians, keep the communication to the facts instead of throwing threats or lies. When you have strong opinions based on facts, it definitely falls under freedom of speech and I definitely hope people are not thinking about getting rid of freedom of speech.

@jimbo-dev Patents are supposed to cover manufacturing of patented ideas. In addition, the legislation specifically allows for making your own copy without a patent license or order building a custom part interfering the patent for your personal use without a patent license.
