This is not too different from flat earth believers or anti-vaxxers that cling to any piece of "news" that supports their worldview. And news sites publishing whatever crap they think will attract clicks because reporters are nowadays rewarded for high clicks on their stories. That said, the messages possibly found from the firmware image like "Seat track motor unavailable due to excessive use" and "Wait 5 minutes to adjust seat track position again" suggest that this could be some kind of overheating protection. Like if somebody likes to spend time in the car driving the seat up and down continuously for whatever reason, the system will stop the seat moving motor for 5 minutes to prevent overheating. Sounds totally reasonable way to prevent the electric motor failure.
