I'm actually surprised that Apple doesn't solder the battery, too.

13:00 Have you checked if your soldering station has some kind of battery for NVRAM storage and the battery has just gone bad? (Similar to BIOS battery in PCs.)

You would assume that the board design software includes automated checks for stuff like this, right? This must be fully intentional.

@marcogenovesi8570 I fully agree. I do software for living and it seems that minority of all the programmers seem to have professional pride for the code quality... especially many younger programmers that have selected the job because it's said to pay well. Majority of the programmers apply whatever half-assed fix they can come up with and consider it done. It's a small wonder we don't have even more security vulnerabilities; and we sure have a lot!

55:00 Do you coat the problematic parts after fixing this stuff?

You would assume that such automatic board layout software supports constraints like "avoid putting different voltage pins near each other"... intentionally disabled by Apple.

@theairaccumulator7144 You can still desolder and move the chip from old battery to new battery, though. It just makes repairs move expensive, not impossible.

@theairaccumulator7144 Yes, batteries can be unsoldered as long as they have wires attached. If the battery doesn't have leads, then you would need to do spot welding instead to avoid overheating the battery.

Louis must be pretty unlucky to have buffer underflows for audio. I use crappy USB webcam as my microphone and I can record audio without parts missing with 2 ms buffering. For output 2-3 ms buffering seems to be enough for motherboard integrated audio, too.
