  1. The original official marketing "reason" for the key placement was ergonomics. The argument was that you use right hand to connect the seat belt, start the car, switch on the gear and release the handbrake to start driving, so it would make sense to have all those controls near each other.

  2. I think the Viggen name refers to Saab 37 Viggen, too, which was a fighter jet manufactured by Saab during years 1970–1990.
