  1. Get one, you'll be much happier with. The only reason to not get a dishwasher is that you don't own/have an access to a laundry washing machine and you cannot affort both - then by all means get a laundry washing machine first. And when you have both dishwasher and washing machines, next thing you should try to acquire is high power induction stove. Those are life-changing for cooking. (However, I've been told that the grid is poor enough in the USA that you cannot get high power induction stoves there. Our induction stove max input power is 10.9 kW.)

  3. Here in Finland cheapest dishwasher tablets are around 0.07 - 0.09 EUR per wash including all taxes. Our Whirlpool dishwasher also "recommends" Finish tablets and I've tested one bag of those even if they are much more expensive and couldn't find any difference in washing result. The water is really soft so that may help, too (the water is actually so soft that even though our dishwasher also supports using salt, it makes no sense to add salt in the container).

  4.  @MikkiPike  Thanks for pointing that out. English is not my native language and I didn't expect dryer to be mixed with "washing machine". I update wording of my previous comment to make it more clear. The literal translations from my mother language (Finnish) would be "clothes washing machine" and "dish washing machine" which naturally affects how I think about those things in English, too.
