  1. It seems that the hot blast lamp is basically an EGR setup for oil lamps. It reduces burning temperatures but burns the output gases more complete. And the heated input air could in theory allow oil to evaporate better. I'm not sure if that matters because you can adjust the flame height to change the evaporation rate in any case.
