  1. Great video! I've been a bit of a audiophile since around 1993 and I never heard about ability to save digital audio on analog video casettes. I did have a VHS setup with ability to store audio on the video area of the tape (I think it was called NICAM Hi-Fi) pretty soon those came available because that was at that time the highest quality you could get for cheap. (DAT was definitely higher quality but very expensive.) However, looking at the specs of NICAM today, it seems that this old Sony PCM converter could do much higher audio quality about 15 years earlier!
