@nolwino We all have a personal religious life. However, if you read the Gospel ( or the Quaran or Gita or Tanakh and Hadeeth, etc) we are commanded by our Deity to extend ourselves into charity and love. I mean, its all well and good to give yourself an excuse to isolate and ignore, but that isnt the mark of spiritual maturity. Catholic saints- Francis of Assisi, st. Clare, St. Vincent de Paul, the blessed Frederick Ozanam, to name only a few-gave their lives not only to the promulgation of faith but to the service of the sick, the orphaned, the destitute. The amount of charitable effort of the RCC is astounding, and that is from Quora, a news service that dosent particularly like us. As an adult, I came to absolutely shocking conclusion that my ego, my self concept, my sense of self and my wants and needs were not the center of the universe. Like most humans, Im selfish, dishonest, self decieving and not really a great addition to humanity. But getting outside of my self, caring for those who truly need it ( right now a gentleman I met long ago, a man who thru 3 successive heart attacks lost everything) I find the redemptive medicine prescribed by dr. Eshoa Bar Yusuf of Nazareth. Its expensive. He has no SS, no pension, no savings. But his SS kicks in March, his health is improving, and to see him safe and happy is my reward on Earth. After he is on track, God will put someone else in my path. It is the visible and tangeable expression of a faith that saves not only them, but me.

@JohnSmith-cy4xt Well sir, I agree with you. This is terrible. I hate to break the news, though, that this priest was a bit dodgy. It seems that he AND his brother ( sadly also a priest) robbed the church of about $175,000. Apparently he borrowed some money from the wrong people and embezzeled from the church coffers but not soon enough. The murderer was actually sent to collect a debt but it went wrong. I mean, I feel bad this priest was killed but it would seem he had a hand in his own downfall. Its a shame, too, very handsome figure of a man, Im sure he was well loved and appreciated by his congregation.

@davida1251 Not terribly.moved here. I think of little old ladies scraping a dollar together to ,'help feed the poor'. Father Felonious here has a.pretty good life, and his brother was just as sticky fingered as he was. Now, it's a damn shame really because the priest was one good looking man. I haven' met many priests who were lady's men but it's possible he had an expensive mistress, borrowed some $from Guido and ended up raiding the collection basket to pay him back. Well....they found out later that this priest and his brother were into the wrong people for about 175k. Seems Father liked to gamble. His brother too. He was siphoning from the collections, apparently not fast enough. Whoever lent him the money wanted to send a message. I kinda feel bad for him, I just think things went a little too far and by the time he wanted to fix things maybe too late. Nice looking man, too, priest and all. Too bad, not a good scene at all.
