  2.  @dudeorduuude5211  You can't help being hurt if the addict is someone in whom you have a deep emotional investment, like a child or a spouse or a sibling. You can do ALL the right things-including cutting all ties with that person and/or turning them into the authorities if this is called for-but not having an emotional reaction to this very sad state of affairs is not realistic. People have feelings.
