  1. He knew he had lived out every fantasy and every fetish. Like everybody he would get old and die. So he became (imagine that) a Byronic hero. He gave his life at Missolounghi to free the Greeks from Turkish rule. Constant bouts of VD, probably a few other ailments as well...he didnt want to die a sick old forgotten looser. And he didnt.
