The court acts according to the information given to them by those whose job it is to evaluate the fitness of a parent. We as a society are aware that the parent is responsible for the welfare of their children. We are also aware that some people are INCAPABLE of parenting and no amount of diversion tactics will change that. The buck has to stop somewhere, stop passing the buck.

That means a constantly changing carrousel of live-in lovers, a job jumper or chronically unemployed primary parent, a parent unable because of physical or mental illnes be incapable of supporting a child is not a fit parent. A parent who is incapable of providing a nurturing, pleasent, peaceful and loving primary relationship with the child is not a fit parent. A person who has demonstrated physical abuse or who TOLERATES physical abuse from a partner or family member is not a fit parent These rules do not vary from state to state There is NO state or territory of the USAthat significantly differs from these ruls.

Lisa Jordan Yes you could lower the financial criteria for adoption in favor of parents with stable jobs, long established marriages (or legal partnerships). Put each potential adoptive parent through a battery of psychological tests to evaluate their fitness. Remember that A LOT of thosr children up for adoption have real problems and some parents just arent prepared for a for a drug addicted or fetal alcohol syndrome child.

NO ONE can restore this baby to life. NO ONE can compensate this baby for his suffering Perhaps you live in a a country where justice is only based on restoring order to society. In the usa tha focust is a focus but not the main focus. Our justice centers on making the individual whole again after a crime. Since a lufe cannot be restored than a life is given in compensation. Since the death penalty is seldom allocated except for the most egregious crimes, the undividual must suffer to pay a price. No one in my nation wpuld be satisfied to have this childs death go unpunished

@attilafry Again, justice is of two kinds, retibutive and restorative. What you consider "revenge" is no more than the JUST suffering our society has every right to exact uponthe guilty. This is nor revenge, revenge. bserves no purpose. Those who behave similarly may be dissuaded from doing so by observing her punishment.

@attilafry Sir in our country we have two types of justice, restorative and retributive. The first type is concerned with making the victim whole again This cannot happen. This woman has taken the life of a human being. Depending on the value society places on the life taken the severity of the punishment for this crime will be enacted. The crime victim who least contributes to the crime under adjudication will be considered the most worthy of justice. In other words if i am helping you rob a bank and you shoot me my claim to justice is LESS than that of the innocent bank teller. Since this child is 100% innocent than the childs claim to justice demands absolute redress. Under our system the dead child's life has enough value to merit compensation in the form of retributive justice. The LAW speaks for the child.

Do you really want the government deciding that? Stupid, ignorant trashy people are going to breed, that is reality. That is why abortion has to remain legal. Sad as it is, it is needful in a world where horrible people like Dylan's parents can breed with impunity.

@attilafry Actions have consequences. We live in a SOCIETY. Perhaps the most heinous, horrifying act to that society is the harming of one's own progeny. A mother's killing of her own child, through either violence or neglect-strikes horror into the heart. I am a mother, who tenderly loved and loves her children though they be now in their 40s. One still sees in the eyes of these aging adults the tender infant that once was. THAT is a mother. You seem to neglect that fact that she has other children that she cared for appropriately? That she was judged sane and competent for trial? She could have given this lovely child up for adoption and made another family infinitely joyful. She killed the child by neglect. She deserves her punishment.

What he could have done is close up the parents room and leaked carbon monoxide into there, killing thrm quiwtly in their sleep. Carries them out to a moving truck after moving IN a new sofa ( mom and dad being in the sofa box, ostensibly 'the old sofa for the thrift shop.' Swap truck for a car and camping gear, go to a national forest, dig a hole 8-9 feet deep INSIDE the tent so as not to attract attention. Buried that far down, its unlikely critters will dig them up. This would take a LOT of fast work and steel nerves, but it helps to have a friendly, gushy g.f. all exited about 'seeing this beauty for the first time ever!'. Dead bodies fo rank pretty fast, be so this has to take place VERY quickly. The rest is gravy. If the house is paid off, you simply forge 'power of attorney' documents and sell. But do NOT rush, especially if Mumsy and dear old Dad were somewhat isolated and had few to no friends. Whats the rush? In fact, as long as bills get paid and the house is kept up, 10 years is a good time to wait; ' mom and dad live at the retirement home' is perfectly plausable. There are children who are autistic or psychotic and have innate violent behaviors but something tells me this is not the case.
