The key is prevention rather than critical care, the data out of many countries show out of all severe and critical cases who needs ventilation half will die, it is the early detection and treatment that will make a difference but the UK still does not offer mass community testing and people still not wearing masks so concentrating on production of ventilators will not save more lives as long as the spread continues.

  27.  @peaceunion5316  The main type of transmission is by droplets yes, but the droplets can form an aerosolized mists and hang in the air for as long as 2 hours in certain weather/pressure/humidity conditions, many infected cases in China happened this way, especially in enclosed air condition circulated spaces like lifts, buses, tubes and indoor places, where you can breath in the mists contains the virus, the more virus you breath in the more chances you will catch it. And imagine how many people sitting in that bus say in the 2 hours or even 30 secs of time, that is why you need to wear masks to reduce the chances even if by a little. I am Chinese, I know this from Chinese medical experts, that is why all Chinese people are required to wear masks when they go out of their homes, but believe whatever you want to believe, it is your life you do whatever you want. BTW, if masks is of no use then why doctors wear them, it is a no brainier!

China's system is working very well for their own unique situation, it has meritocracy the west could dream to have. What improvements China need is purely the matter for the Chinese, save your preach to the Chinese and maybe try to sort out your own issues at home, last time I checked, the Chinese are perfectly capable of dealing with their own affairs, unless your think you are superior than them. If you genuinely care about the Chinese, leave them to be, again they have ZERO interests to be a exact copy of the West!

You really need to have a proper update on the vaccines, Chinese vaccines came out much earlier than Western ones, and they work very well too based on clinical trials in several continents, they are also much safer having been developed using traditional method, many countries are demanding them. Not sure what you mean that they created a problem, NO China didn't CREATE Covid-19, it is accepted that the virus was first discovered in China. You can stop this kind of deflecting which people like you usually do when you have no valid argument.

Japan, South Korea and some other countries didn't lock down but have much lower infections and deaths, they are exposed to the same virus and even more serious threat consider the closeness to China and and travellers coming from China early on and of course from other countries later. And not to mention their population density is much higher than European countries, you must have seen what the Japanese underground like during peak time. When Spain started to wear masks the virus had already spread to most communities, and later on when masks were worn, their cases came down much quicker than the UK, the UK is the worst among all European countries both in overall infections and deaths and per capita as well, whey is UK so bad?
