  22.  @jacksonbrown4112  Totally Ignorant comment on every level, most Hongkongers don't speak good English and Mandarin. The Western influence and philosophy is limited, they celebrate Chinese cultures and traditions even more than the Mainland Chinese, the British never gave Hongkongers democracy, most locals were treated like second class citizens under the British rule when the governors were appointed by the queen. Hong Kong's economic success and wealth status has a lot to do with the rapid economical development of China, most foreign owned businesses in Hong Kong would confirm this. Hong Kong's water supply, fresh produce and waste management is largely provided by the mainland, yes it is indeed very hard to give these all up, because it wouldn't survive on its own.
