The resolution, passed on 25 October 1971, recognized the People's Republic of China as "the only legitimate representative of China to the United Nations" and removed "the representatives of Chiang Kai-shek" (referring to the then-authoritarian Kuomintang regime as the dominant party in the Republic of China, whose central government had retreated to Taiwan from the mainland) from the United Nations.

  10.  @lordhoweproductions3733  Chiang Kai-shek (KMT) led ROC lost its legal representation of China in 1971 (Re: The United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758). In fact, ROC ceased to exist in 1949 when the CPC (The Communist Part of China) led PRC was founded after it defeated the KMT (The Chinese Nationalist Party) forces in the Chinese civil war.
