@F HH Absolutely agree with everything in your comment. He contradicted himself in several places. And some points seem to have been made as excuses of why the US can't have the same high speed rails (or other infrastructure projects) as China. And he proved his point of the US' inability to plan long term, because focusing on short term gain/loss seem to be a more important consideration(typical capitalistic mentality, no surprise).

He contradicted himself, he started by saying China plans long term but then focused on the short term gain or/and loss of the high speed rail, the point is on the long term, it is way more beneficial to the country's economy and people's life. Maybe someone from a capitalist country could never understand.

@kordellswoffer1520 Are you a Chinese who live in China, who benefit from the convenience and modernity now and would potentially benefit from the wider economical gain in the 20, 50, 100 years to come? NO. The potential economical benefit is not even easily measurable, and plus most importantly it is a public resource, not a private profit machine, again as someone from a capitalist country you would never understand. I also suggest you talking to a Chinese person, preferably someone who live next to a high speed connection, see how their lives have improved and benefited then come here to debate, it would be much more convincing than making judgement out of thin air.

@kordellswoffer1520 And I just read your other posts, it seems you dislike China as a country, I guess you aren't here to debate why China should or should not have HSR, but rather to vent your hate wherever that comes from. Again, only the Chinese themselves could judge if the HSR benefit them and their country, your opinion, hardly matters.

I did NOT say it is difficult to measure so that equals to no or little economical benefit, what I meant was the economical benefits are beyond measurable with only monetary means. My point is weighing up short/medium term monetary costs is largely meaningless because these projects are built for the long run, and it will always be more beneficial on the long run as with most HSR, even if it means running it for years at a loss, but people could not live without them, it is the case in many Western countries too. ''Chinese citizens lives have improved and it's got nothing to do with the HSR, people lives have been improving all around the world with or without HSR.'' Complete nonsense, again you are talking out of thin air, not backing up your claim with any meaningful data or personal experience as someone who have prob never lived in China, what made you say people's lives have not improved because of the HSR? You think China just build lines and lines of HSR just to waste money? Again, it is a public service like mail service, and it is subsidised by the government so everyone can benefit not just the rich.
