Comments by "F Liu" (@F_Liu) on "US hypocritically attacks China on climate change, while Beijing leads world in renewable energy" video.
Ben, I am SO glad you are covering this topic. The Americans (Western populations in general) consume far more resources per capita than the Chinese and have been for a long time. However China, has been at the forefront of its developments on green alternatives contributing positively to the climate crisis. Yes, I am sick of the US' hypocrisy and double standards, which seem to be one of the few remaining consistent ''values'' of the US/West.

As a Chinese, I am always amazed with Ben's deep understandings of China (both on recent developments and historical perspective). It really isn't that hard to find out the truth about China, but I guess, a good start would be to forget all the ''history'' of China (or the lack of it) you've been taught at an US/Western school.

The US: Find a country to blame for all our problems... we are never at fault.

Ben, I love learning from you, great content as always!

A good portion of China's CO2 emissions derive from being ''the world's factory'', the US/West should take at least their share of responsibility for the pollutions their manufacturing facilities create.
20
@Honkthatchersdead Glad you had that opportunity... The anti China propaganda (from media to educational institutions) is still as wild if not more so.
14
@paulsnow ''Wealthy'' countries don't have to use more resources and emit more CO2, it is only the case because they live (in general) a much more wasteful lifestyle partly due to their capitalist consumerist culture. And if the Chinese or populations from developing nations all adopt to this wasteful lifestyle (when they have the means to do so), it will not be great for the earth. Maybe the ''wealthy'' countries should live within their means? Btw, your assumption about the ''wealthy'' half of China's population is kind of a projection.
12
@paulsnow There is not a communist country in the world, at least China isn't one currently. So that exposed your ignorance already. And China has only become industrialised since the past 40 years or so (and as one of the largest manufacturing bases for the West/world). The US/West was industrialised much earlier and as Ben explained based on historical data, the US/West has had way worse environmental record. Did you actually watch the video?
10
@paulsnow ''communism has been worse for the environment by far than capitalism.'' Lol, I don't think you understand definitions of both. A Neoliberal capitalist economy based on mindless consumerism and maximum profit making creates far more waste. Socialist societies aimed at fairer distribution of wealth with state subsidised public facilities are far more resource efficient and would actually benefit the working majority. The US/Western economic model is also a debt driven economy, that's why I advocate Western populations to live within their means. The Western ''wealthy'' nations should do far more (like reducing waste due to your consumerist culture) to help with the environment, because I don't think many of you are aware that you dump much of your consumer wastes into developing countries, China used to be one of these countries, yet I haven't seen any Western country paying for the massive pollutions this created.

He is a natural liar, I think he will take this as a compliment.
7
@Vict0r1984 Absolutely well said, I completely agree.
6
@paulsnow ''The US is not too wealthy. Most of the world is too poor.'' Btw, Most of the world is ''too poor'' is because Western nations like the US has been exploiting their resources on the cheap with your Neoliberal unfettered capitalist economic model. The ordinary people in these countries have not been getting their fair share of the benefit. So again, only by nationalising their resources they could truly benefit and in turn live better, which is the economic model the US/West constantly seeks to undermine.
5
@User-t-f4b That's exactly the points I wanted to make...
4
China IS a developing nation, no matter how these Western lying media like to spin, China still is a developing nation. Maybe all the US/Western companies should pay an environmental tax for contributing to China's CO2 emissions with all the manufacturing facilities they set up in China?

When she stops being a tool for the US government's agency...

@paulsnow China does win-win mutual beneficial trade in Africa as well as in other Global South countries by helping them building much needed essential infrastructures. The Western Neoliberal economic model (unfettered Capitalism) exploits these countries resources mostly for its own benefit, how is this good for ordinary Africans? Btw, how many countries has the US/West invaded, destroyed and innocent people murdered under your ''freedom, democracy and human rights'' ideology? Go talk to the people of these countries, they'd rather not want your ''freedom''. You are one fine example of Western hypocrisy. Have a good day.

@@kemist578 All critical thinking are lost when it comes to China, I blame the Western anti Communism hysteria and Yellow Peril mentality. And a lot of it are also sheer projection.

Completely!

Climate crisis is real, but I think a lot of the times, the US/West uses it to suppress the rightful developmental needs (industrializations) of the Global South. China builds infrastructures for a sustainable development for its Global South partners, while the US/West uses military and economic sanctions to extract resources out of developing countries which keep the people poor.
