It just goes to show how detached the US/Western governments are with the reality on the ground, that decoupling with China is just a wishful thinking. China remains a very attractive place for foreign investments hence more have come. What the US/West should be focusing on is to improve its own competitiveness instead trying to cripple China in the short term, it will only make China become less reliant on Western tech, which will hurt the Western economy even more.

@brianliew5901 Yes we actually agree on these points you made. Many Chinese factories are already fully automated (one of the points professor Yuan Xin has made in his article, which I didn't include here). Plus younger generation would not want to work in manufacturing anymore. And yes, I also agree that a smaller population would not be a bad thing, as more resources could be shared per capita.

@brianliew5901 To go down to 500 million prob would take a century, but I do think the Chinese government does need to develop some favourable birth policies, despite the exaggerated ''population crisis'' from the Western media.

@13opacus India is only making less than 2% of iPhones, because their poorly trained work force are producing a lot of substandard products. India has no chance to compete with China.

China has not used state subsidies towards private enterprises, including both domestic and foreign (joint ventures). This is another anti China talking points, along with the ''population crisis'' you've been repeating in other comments

@billyehh BTW, females abortions (due to culture preference) have not been practiced for many decades now, as it has been deemed illegal to selectively abort and hospitals simply do not offer the option of finding out the sexes of the baby, so it makes it impossible to abort on gender. I exposed another one of your false talking point.

@billyehh It has been an illegal practice for decades as I said before (official laws preventing selective abortion was drafted and implemented from 2014). So, the likelihood of this happening in Mainland China is very slim (but of course there will always be people who disobey the law and get away with it). There are people who go abroad or places like Hong Kong to avoid being punished. And consider China's large population (of childbearing age women), yes it would show up in the statistics, but this is changing as women and society as a whole is better educated. So, again, there is no need to single out China as somehow being particularly bad.

@billyehh You forgot China holds most numbers of patents of the processing technologies. Yes, it is polluting which means such work will not pass Western countries environmental regulations to start with. It will take years before the West could match China's production capacity. And China hasn't even started yet (more rare earth bans will come if the US continues to apply economic sanctions on China).

@Shenzhou. Just to say, the practice of purchasing foreign wives is not something the Chinese government encourages, in fact, I think this is illegal, as it is borderline human trafficking. Just thought to put this out there (i.e. I don't agree that this is a solution). Btw, there is a natural ratio that more boys are born than girls, part of the human biology. This applies to all races and countries on earth. So to suggest only China has this problem is absurd.
