Basically, the Chinese government does not want to have to ''clean up the mess'' if a private financial company like Ant Financial who could take on too much risks only for profit making, we are talking about the security of people's hard earned savings, financial stability is a very important part of the overall stability of China, China does not want a US style of financial crisis that was created by reckless lending.

I don't think the world is that interested of whereabouts of Jack Ma, only the anti China (Western) media IS, Jack Ma ''disappeared'' would suit that China= bad narrative of the anti China media. Why does Jack Ma have to prove he is alive and well just because the Western media pushes out some speculations and rumours which it routinely does. If people have to start reacting to all these nonsense, there wouldn't be time for anything else. It is the most stupid logic that if someone like Ma is not seen for a while, that person must have been disappeared, but it is understandable when most Westerners are brainwashed by all the anti China fear mongering Western media that demonise China everyday. The whole thing is about China wanting to make sure private financial companies like Ma's follow the appropriate regulations so to avoid potential crisis like the one in 2008, Jack Ma's words were against China's official policies and he needs to be reminded that China is a socialist country where financial security of the country is of foremost importance. This has nothing to do with ''striping away people's human rights'' or any other anti China talking points you got brainwashed with. Keep an open mind if you really want to know about China, that is why you watch this channel right?

@christinehaines3759 I hope you have heard that Jack Ma is alive and well, and your baseless clueless assumptions are now all busted in front of your eyes. I have never acknowledged that the Chinese government ''punish people for expressing their opinions''. This is total nonsense, it shows your total ignorance about China, despite you having been to China, you need to have stayed in China for at least 6 months to be even qualified to talk about China. If you have read my first comment you would understand why Jack Ma has been quiet, this has nothing to do with expressing a different opinion or criticism against the Chinese government, nothing to do with ''oppression'', or your imaginary ''lack of freedom'' in China. None of those exists in reality in China other than in your own bubbles that resulted from years of brainwashing.
