Fear sells, Western media basically generates profits through fearmongering both for themselves and for their ad sponsors including large corporations and military contractors, and the corporations also fund think tanks to push out more fears in order to win governmental contracts, it is about profit and maintaining the Western hegemony by making China, a serious competitor of the West look bad. It is mainly the Western people who are brainwashed by these narratives and some false claims on China, conditioned on a daily basis to think it is perfectly acceptable to demonise a nation and if the West would start a war with China, they would easily side with the West.
