  2. Russian has many loanwords from Latin, Greek, French, German and English. And of course, a close linguistic relationship exists too, because it is Indo-European. You can test it by reading Pushkin. Most of loanwords came to Russian since 1850. Pushkin usually used native Russian words, except names.

  5. It is very probably because the letter "heta" is the ancestor of russian letter "И" which sounds [i], and "epsilon" is the ancestor of russian letter "Е" which sounds (after consonants) between [e] and [ɛ].

  11.  @OldLordSpeedy  We in Russian call camel "верблюд" /verblüd/. The first letter is not С or K or G, it is В which sounds like V. The letter which is derivative from "Gamal" is Г.
