  1. It's not just deliberately trying to be cool and edgy, not on a conscious level. It's familiarity and identifying with the music of your youth as well. Going back and listening to some of the music you thought was so freakin' deep and special as a teenager can break the illusion quite easily. Things become clichéd the more you hear them and by your mid 20s, the things that were new and unique to you as a teen are painfully corny. It's a lot more than people trying to be cool.
