This was the perfect analysis video for me - you skillfully (why's that word on the tip of my tongue?) avoided descending into the dry soulless academic pontificating that so many film/TV study videos and podcasts do. That's why I said "for me" because for some minds, that's rich and fulfilling but I find myself feeling queasy every time I hear 'motif', 'exposition' or 'establishing shot' because it sucks the heart out of the art for me and reduces it to lines of computer script. And then we have Gus, the perfect subject as he's my favourite Breaking Bad character - not favourite in the way I like Jesse the most or am most invested in Walter but favourite to see on screen performing and be fascinated by because of his human psychology that's distinctly devoid of humanity and yet wholly a creation of the human condition. Corporations are likewise the antithesis of the 'heart and soul' aspect of humankind while simply being the fully realised extention of one ugly aspect of our mind: greed/power/war and personal success without empathy.
