@InfiniteNallidge There is no proof of this. You might as well argue she would have gotten the illness anyway without COVID. Maybe she would, but there is no evidence for this either.

Until it dies again and rises again and dies again and ...

Sometimes self censorship, or rather, restraint, is appropriate. For example, I don't want an artist I follow in Twitter to suddenly rant about politics.
6
ChatGPT becomes smarter every day. Unlike the people who just copy paste its output into the comments.

Were numbers discovered?

The fear of failure usually stems from the fact that these days, seemingly small mistakes can cause damages of thousands of dollars. People don't give you the chance to mess up.

We only need to define the cables as having twelve spacial dimensions. Genius. So intuitive!
3
What cure did Cuba find?
3
No. It's a universe where people only have one leg and thus unly use one sock. For them, new socks start appearing in their washing machines when ours go through the dimensional doors.

Cant wait for private research to tell us that lead is actually healthy to children.

@CAThompson Popper was specifically talking about people using violence and rejecting the mechanism of public discourse. He was not talking about people who just say dumb and mean thing in public. The way people seem to quote Popper makes it seem like there could possibly never be any tolerance ever, which is insane.

The Unis trying their best to not employ people also leads to a massive drop in education quality. The tutors and assistants are now voluntears and they can basically have as low as a standard for grading students as they want. I wrote terrible papers, and I still got an A for all of them because the people grading them seemed to not care, except one guy.

The future where research is private (aka only big corporations can afford it), the only fields of research will be those that maximise spending. How psychologically manipulate people into loving your brand and spend money (the entertainmnet industry is doing this). How to make food taste healthy while it has almost no nutirans. How to create medicine that reduces harm but is addictive so you never stop bying it. How to create brain Chips that implant brand loyalty.

Why is "publish or perish" even a thing? It sounds so stupid. Who is incentivising that system to exist?
2
Yay, new physics. FTL here we come!
2
@JohnDoe-sq5nv >They All want to outcompete each other Is a baseless axiom of rationalist economics. Why would they want to outcompete each other if they can just agree to never step on each other toes like how the ISP companies have been doing it? Why would they risk their existemce if they can have stability instead?
2
It has been all downhill since peer review became a thing.
2
@Countcho One day, there will be a last person to say this.
2
@commodoor6549 Solar freaking mulitverses!
2
@SabineHossenfelder Excuse my language, but this is fucking deranged.

When I hear Fraunhofer, I always have to think about the corruption case in 2023 that put their finances under the watchful eyes of the courts. We had to ask the University if we could borrow some equipment for our New Year celebration event and were forced to pay for any expenses with our own private money because we were not allowed to use company money thanks to the government saying "no". lol.
2
The multiverse idea defeats itself. Assume the multiverse exists and can be measured. Since everything measurable is inside our universe, every measurable universe outside our universe must be inside our universe. Therefore the multiverse is part of the universe.
2
The Anime "Planetes" does it well too. The plot revolves around a crew of orbit cleaners working on a space station, and the first scene in the show depicts a commercial space flight being destroyed by space debris.

@braddofner Yes it is. That is what being free means; doing actions without restriction.

@tpog1 The left right spectrum does not make any sense whatsoever and is a relic from the french revolution, conflating many different things, leading to the retarded "The nazis were far left" and "liberals are enablers of fascism" nonsense. Fascists and Socialists are neither left or right. But they are related in that they have a shared history and the fact that many big fascists tended to be socialists first.

The not-owning manager class ruining everything as usual.

There will be a day when an old and wrong saying will be repeated and become true this time.

Private and public companies are just as packed with marketing experts, bureaucrats and tie wearers as academia is. They are also not very efficient. Who thinks companies are more efficient than other collectives? In my experience companies don't want to be efficient. They wanna be chrap.

People like Elon Musk barely cares for his childrwn, not to speak of "humanity". He only cares about how people see him. He would totally only fund brainchips that make people love him.
1
No it wasn't. Otherwise the Michelson Morley experiment would not have been a thing

@reidflemingworldstoughestm1394 You see, if you define Intelligent design to mean something in alignment with observable reality, then where is the problem?

>"Reactiomary" kek lol rofl lmao.

I love how this video conflates different units of meassurement and topics. 2+2=4, no matter how you are goin to twist it. 20°C+20°C is 40°C. Two cups of water with 10°C each + two cups of water with 10°C each are 4 cups of water with 10°C. Saying 2 cups of water at 20°C + 2 cups of water at 20°C not being water at 40°C meaning that 2+2=/=4 is kinda dishonest.
1
People use "science" the wrong way, as if it's an authority over humanities canon of knowledge. "Science says X" is a nonsensical statement, yet people constantly say things like this to give authority to their claims.

Ai needs to be destroyed.

@boredom2go Playing world saviour is his motivation. But this does not explain why he constantly advocated for and pushes the US government into abandoning federal agencies and replacing them with his own corporations.
1
I don't like singularities, so I chose to believe they don't exist.
1
Oh no.

@Nothingtoseehere-v7d This does not prevent anything. This is how stuff actually looks like.
1
People here trying to chellenge this reasoning, but unless they discover something groundbreaking, the hypothesis stands. I will be waiting.
1
Considering that the biochemistry and sensory signals of your brains are based on particles exchanging forces using photons, then humans can be assumed to be a photon.
1
They do tho.
1
The field of psychology prooves that the market looks for better mind-tricks to suck dry our wallets and nothing else. Also say goodbye to public papers. Everything will be copyrighted corporate secrets.
1
To complete the hype, they need to announce that their Qbits are powered by Ai.
1
I remember my physics prof using quantim mechanics to show how CO2 traps infrared light. So either CO2 is a greenhouse gas, or the schrödinger equation is wrong.
1
Does "inside the event horizon" even make any sense?
1
It's Idea laundry. They do it in the philosophies too. People create magazines and publish bogus/ideological papers in them to give their field academic legitemacy.
1
Now, why can we not make the same arguments but for electric attraction?
