Walt Disney got that special district so he could build a city there. He planned to make it a modern, nuclear power model city of the future, but after he died before this plan could be realized, Disney Corp just built a theme park there instead. For them to get the district, They agreed to the condition that this district should not be used to generate private profits for the Disney company. They are also not supposed to have direct control over the district's board. Disney and Reedy Creek are supposed to be separate entities, but Disney seems to have forgotten about this because nobody cared. Until now. Florida is currently arguing that the agreement which created Reedy Creek is illegal because, as they assert, Disney violated the conditions above.

Why should Disney have special privileges that other entertainment giants don't have? This is stupid. End Reedy Creek now. Invade it with the national guard if you have to.

@CWTS47DAB Villages are an entirely different story and have not violated their contracts from day one like Disney probably has. Why does Disney have a little thiefdom for itself but not Paramount and Warner?
