“Every male character in The Last Jedi was a useless, spineless, incompetent moron.” Counter argument: name a male character in the original trilogy who was never any of those things. Yoda and Chewie don’t count because they were also in The Last Jedi.

The Critical Drinker Yoda told Luke not to fall for Vader’s obvious trap and Luke did anyway, so Luke is an idiot. Obi-Wan spends twenty years in hiding by living on the home planet of the guy who wants to kill him next to the son of the aforementioned guy, so Vader is also an idiot for not finding him in that time. Lando betrayed Han Solo. Yes, he was threatened by Vader into doing so, but Billy Dee Williams once said the kids at his daughter’s school kept telling him “You betrayed Han Solo.” So as far as those kids are concerned, Lando is spineless. Han was a famously difficult to capture smuggler who still got captured twice, once by goddamn Ewoks, so he’s incompetent. And Wedge is mostly just there. Am I missing something?

The Critical Drinker Fine, forget the kids. 1. Yoda very emphatically told Luke not to go to Bespin because A) it was a trap, and B) Luke wasn’t done with his training. Luke isn’t an idiot for wanting to save his friends, but if he had to leave his training early, he could, I dunno, maybe try to get backup first. 2. Obi-Wan wasn’t hiding on some random planet. He was hiding on Vader’s home planet. And couldn’t Vader just use the Force to find Obi-Wan? When Kylo Ren used the Force on Rey, he could see the island where Luke was hiding. He didn’t know where it was, but he managed to do it anyway. What stopped Vader from using the Force on Obi-Wan and going “Hey, that looks an awful lot like Tattooine”? I mean, from what I recall, that is how he got Luke to leave Dagoba.
