Unless their politics align with yours. Then you think they are admirable people standing up for what's right. A very widespread bias.

So do we today. In our off work time we have to shop, cook, clean, do laundry, care for the kids/pets. On top of that a lot of people do their own car maintenance/home repairs. So our 'free' time is not so free either.

I don't see anything wrong with either teaching kids to shoot guns or fight with swords, as long as it's done w proper adult supervision. Being able to defend yourself/others or hunt is an important life skill. Sword fighting would not be very useful today granted but it was back in Samurai day.

@chaost4544 Yeah, tell it to those who have to do all those things after they worked hard at their job all day! Still a lot of work. Plus there is not machine invented yet that could was my bathtub or sink, wash my windows or a robot to brush and walk my dog. No personal robot who can do your shopping for you as of yet either. Also, medieval peasants DID outsource quite a bit of their work to specialicts, such as blacksmiths, thatchers, repairmen ets.

The worst insult in my opinion is "cultural relativist." I made it my life's mission to troll cultural relativism at risk of being called a racist. It's a good risk.

I think all those dangers and legal prohibitions is PRESISELY what makes Paris catacombs so alluring to so many people.
12
I don't think any society ever has complete freedom of speech. It's a great abstract concept with the emphasis on abstract. In reality there is always a number of topics/subjects a given group avoids talking about, sometimes without even consiously realising it.

@pietromicca44 They had wells. And they did not go for the animal feed somewhere in the bush every day. They had it stored ahead. There was a village butcher to butcher a large animal, there was the blacksmith to shoe a horse, there was the thatcher to mend the roof. There were always kids or hangaround adult to do an odd job such as water fetching or wood chopping for just a crust of bread.
8
@pietromicca44 Not true, there were lots of them in the countryside. Plus the families were large back in the day so when everyone pitched in it was not nearly as much work.
7
When you are lost in the woods, the rule is to stay in the same place and let the search and rescue party find you. I suppose it applies to catacombs too.
7
@DJRockford83 Not really. You had to work 3 days in the master's fields. Or, if you rented, you had a quota of the harvest to give to the master.

@Front-Toward-Enemy Word.
4
I bet George Tsoukalos will make an episode abt them on Ancient Aliens.
4
I studied intro Spanish and our teacher told us, one of her students asked another "How old are you?" He mispronounced slightly and got "How many a**holes have you got?"
4
His name should be RUDELY Scott.
3
You two already got a fur baby!🐕😃

Someone's wedding anniversary's coming up. Happy anniversary!

Hollywood Russians are even worse than Hollywood Itallians.
2
Western Europeans until recently did not consider Slavs real Europeans. And this is considering that most of us are as Nordic looking as any Scandi, Anglo or German. We get cast to play Norsemen on screen for Chissakes!
2
@pietromicca44 They gathered hay in the haymaking season, stored it ahead. Plus I already mentioned there were a lot of helpers ready to do odd jobs like water fetching or wood chopping for pittance, sometimes a crust of bread. There were a lot of orphans, vagabonds and destitute widows hanging around waiting for the opportunities of those little jobs just to have bite to eat.
2
I agree with the part that he always behaves decently in his vids. But fortunately he is far from being the only one.
2
@Pepe-pq3om They are. Parisians are quite aware of the rogue catacomb explorers. So they have special search and rescue units.
2
I find that to me, as a Slavic languages speaker, Italian and Spanish pronunciation comes easy. Are Slavic and Latin language phonics really similar?
2
I wonder what Metatron (and everyone in the comments) think of Prof. David Olusogga. He was talking in his docs about Upper Egyptians being black, and even several of the pharaohs orinating there.
2
If all of that is true, then Stargate is a reality show.

Winston: PC brigade done make my daddy mad. Gonna go bite 'em!

Xena's real!
1
That's what I said about Titanic. And Avatar.

It's a lot like what we have in Ukrainian/Russian culture. There r 2 camps. One thinks that everything OURS (traditionally Slavic) is wonderful and perfect and everything Western is corrupt. The other thinks that we r irredeemably backward and barbaric and mindlessly idealize and emulate everything Western. To me BOTH extremes s*ck. I sincerely hope that the silent majority in both cultures have common sense and agree w me.

@jeffkardosjr.3825 What do u mean?

Was Latin a completely phonetic language?

Nex episode, the dogs: we finally civilized our uncivilized hooman parents!
1
And their guard dogs were the size of a chihuahua!🐕🤣

Well, I am an agnostic leaning atheist in our reality, but weird unexplainable shit insists on harrassing me against my wishes. Kinda like a cat that purrs and rubs against a cat phobe, or a baby grabbing and demanding attention from a child hater.

Ne-e-errrd!

It's a bit more poetic in Italy where the climate is nice. In the Northern parts it's a lot harsher and less poetic.
1
Angels sound a lot like Daleks.

Medieval people were living in dread of Y1K!
1
It's not that they just had wars. They glorified and romanticized war. We still have war, our attitude to it changed. We don't glorify it.

What horrible news! Hope the treatments work. In Canada (Ontario) we have free healthcare but the waiting lists for non emerg. surgery are brutal! I had to wait nearly a year, twice. Fortunately both times the tumors were benign.
1
Ha-ha, Metatron/Maximus Miller bro-mance!
1
Languages evolve, man. Take you native one, Italian. The reason it exists is that long long ago Latin got mangled and bastardized. So yes man u r pedantic!

1st!

One can argue using Metatron's logic to defend p-philia in Ancient Greece. One can say that we are applying our modern notions of what a child is and what children's rights should be to a different time and different place. By that logic they were not doing anything wrong, merely practicing customs of time and place and we are in the wrong to condemn them.
1
U should get a huge cat, like a Maine coon so it could keep the tiny dogs in line.🐶🐕🐈
1
@pietromicca44 I was raised by a great grandmother who was a russian peasant all her life. Was listening her peasant life stories my whole childhood.
1
@pietromicca44 They did have free time.
1
@unpopularopinion9831 Yeah, because the farm is isolated. Most peasants back then lived in villages with plenty of neighbours close by.
1
@unpopularopinion9831 I didn't say they had it easy. U r a genius yourself too and stop putting words in my mouth.
1
@guardiandevil3 Every village had one. And there weree a lot of fam. members to fetch waters. As well as people who would do a job like that for a crust of bread.
