  1. If we want characters to be true to the ethnic origins of characters then Spiderman SHOULD have been black all along because he is based on Anansi who happens to be a spider man from African/Afro Caribbean folk tales.

  2. I don't think Ariel was race swapped. In Andersen's tale her race was never explicitly stated in the first place and so she can be of any race/racial mixture.

  4.  @tayebizem3749  They are also imaginary and so one can take liberty with their physical characteristics that are nonessential to the story. And her skin colour plays no such role and therefore can be changed.

  5.  @metatronyt  I find change fun. It's fun to take old concepts and put fresh spin on them. Think of Shakespeare and Jane Austen. How many times their works were remade in recent days, stories set in recent times and different countries. Funny no one complains about that.
